Road To Austin Airs Nationally on PBS

gary fortin

We were very excited when the local Austin, Texas affiliate of PBS (KLRU) asked to include a 60-minute edited version of Road To Austin in their programming. We considered that other Texas PBS affiliate stations would also pick it up for broadcast. We are now excited to announce, (and are beyond grateful) that since RTA first aired in January 2016, it has now been broadcast over 200 times on over 100 affiliate PBS stations nationally. This number will continue to climb and expand as more PBS affiliates (there are over 300) include RTA into their programming as our ratings continue to increase.

If you are interested in seeing the broadcast go to your local PBS station affiliates website and type in Road To Austin into their programming search tab. If by chance you do not see the title send them an email on their contact page and request them to air Road To Austin!

You can buy the full 37-performance, 3.5 hour DVD/Blu-ray at www.rtafilm.com

Big Thanks to the entire FORMAX Group team for their efforts - with special thanks to Molly McDermott (Editor), Tom Davis (Audio), Kevin Connor (Narrator). Also thanks to our underwriters for this production - Texan Theatre in Greenville Texas, and Strange Brew Lounge Side Music Venue.

Austin Screening July

gary fortin

Well, The Austin film screening of "Road To Austin" was quite the evening! On July 18th, we had a sold-out capacity crowd (280 people) that was the most enthusiastic and responsive audience yet! Big thanks to the folks at the Austin Film Society for having us at their Marchesa Theatre, we hope to return in the near future!  We have been inundated with hundreds of requests for another Austin screening and we are looking at that possibility now.  The production team is still diligently at work finalizing the project for Blu-ray release and we hope to have it on the shelves for the holiday season.  We were hoping to have it done and released by Spring and that proved to be impossible!  Our last hurdle is to raise the final publishing/clearances money needed, and then it's off to manufacture!

Austin Film Society Screening in July

gary fortin

We are excited to show the film back in Austin, Texas! Back during our World Premiere at SXSW we had a capacity crowd of 650 people see the film and that was awesome! What was not so awesome is that well over 200 people who came to see the film could not get in...

Well, on July 18th we will be showing the film again in Austin in collaboration with the Austin Film Society. The film will be shown at the Marchesa Theatre on Friday - July 18th at 8pm. The theatre hold about 260 people and the tickets are already selling fast! I suggest going to the this link if you would like to attend: https://www.austinfilm.org/premieres--special-events/film-road-to-austin

Lajitas Screening

gary fortin

The film screening in Lajitas (Big Bend) was a magical night! Big thanks are in order to Trevor Hickle and his wife Nola for hosting such a fun night of watching the film and visiting with new and old friends!  It ceases to amaze me that regardless of where I go and show this film, someone is bound to approach me after the film with teary eyes and tell me a heartfelt story of Stephen Bruton...Lajitas was no exception!  It is safe to say that if you refer to Lajitas being out in the middle of "Nowhere", nobody will argue with you! Here you measure your distance to Mexico in feet not miles! There were a few people that happened to be taking a West Texas vacation in Marfa that drove 2.5 hours just to see the film and get a last glimpse of that infamous "Bruton Smile" which is readily available in the film!  Looks like I will be headed back out to Big Bend in August with the film...I have been invited to screen at Viva Terlingua Film Festival August 14-17. I sure do love the majesty of the high desert!
